Are you an experienced technical professional with a passion for quality, sustainability, and innovation in fresh produce? We are seeking a Junior Technical Manager to join our dynamic team supporting the M&S account, delivering exceptional service, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring the highest standards of product safety, legality, and integrity.
Key Responsibilities
Customer & Technical Support
- Assist the Technical Director, Head of Technical, and Technical Managers across product safety, quality, and ESG initiatives.
- Maintain exceptional customer service, delivering data-led insights and performance updates to M&S across complaints, shelf life, waste, intake assessments and more.
- Organise and participate in supplier/customer visits, follow-ups, and project delivery.
- Manage and update M&S technical platforms and specification libraries.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Coordinate weekly quality summaries and KPI reporting, liaising with Product Management and TA teams.
- Support and help deliver internal upskilling sessions and masterclasses.
- Participate in agent and site audits, benchmarking and development of best practices across all packing and supplier sites.
- Lead the implementation of new M&S policies and standards across the supply base.
Innovation & Supply Chain Resilience
- Work closely with growers and suppliers to identify and implement varietal and packaging innovation.
- Help assess and strengthen supply chain resilience and continuity plans.
- Maintain and contribute to innovation trackers and development projects.
Internal Collaboration & Reporting
- Communicate clearly and regularly with Commercial, Compliance, and Packaging teams to align goals.
- Deliver both customer-facing and supplier-facing analysis and planning to ensure specification, compliance, and quality standards are met.
- Maintain effective technical documentation, reports, and KPIs.
About You
Essential Experience & Skills:
- Must have proven experience in Technical, Quality Assurance, or Compliance within food or fresh produce.
- Experience with customer compliance systems, specification management and direct interaction with M&S or similar UK retailers.
- Proficient in MS Office, Excel, databases, and confident in using customer portals.
- Strong communication, organisation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Able to multitask, prioritise, and remain calm under pressure.
- Great attention to detail and a proactive, solution-focused attitude.
Desirable:
- Internal auditing experience (especially to M&S standards: Select Farm, FSQI, etc.)
- Knowledge of BRCGS, Prophet ERP systems, and labelling requirements.
- Ripening and category-specific experience within fresh produce.
- Factory or packing site experience and involvement with varietal trials.
