Plant Area Manager | County Carlow, Ireland

Salary: DOE plus Relocation support and nearby accommodation are available

Are you an experienced horticulturist with a passion for retail and team management? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a successful, family-run Garden Centre as a plant area manager, based in the beautiful countryside of County Carlow.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire a team to deliver excellent customer service and expert plant advice
  • Oversee daily operations to ensure the plant area and wider shop floor are well-maintained, organised, and commercially focused
  • Manage stock, including ordering, goods-in, merchandising, pricing, and regular stocktakes
  • Support the DIY department, taking responsibility for its performance and presentation
  • Drive sales, implementing seasonal plans, promotions, and displays to maximise performance
  • Act as the main point of contact for customer enquiries, offering friendly, knowledgeable assistance
  • Track performance using budgets and sales data to make informed, commercial decisions
  • Ensure high standards in presentation, stock control, labelling, and health & safety compliance
  • Maintain plant quality through effective care, handling, and display
  • Stay informed on market trends to keep product ranges fresh and relevant

What we're looking for

  • Experience in retail management, in a garden centre or horticultural setting
  • A horticultural qualification with strong plant knowledge and a passion for gardening
  • Confident leadership and people management skills with a focus on creating a positive workplace culture
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Customer-focused mindset with a hands-on, solutions-driven approach
  • Strong attention to detail across operations, plant care, and store standards
  • A full driving licence is preferred, as public transport does not run directly to the centre
