About Our Client

Our client operates an established and diverse garden centre that has undergone major development work in the last 3 years. They are looking to expand and improve their plant offering further to increase footfall and market share. As well as sourcing quality plant stock from local and UK suppliers, they grow a portion of their own perennial and bedding stock on site. They are a close-knit, friendly team that strive to provide the very best product and customer experience. The centre also has a popular cafe/restaurant and farm shop.

About the Role

This role is all about providing the best range of quality plants and service to customers. You will be responsible for working with suppliers and internal nursery staff to source plants and grow plants from plugs to create interesting displays giving customers a broad selection of popular and unusual plants throughout the year. You will work closely with the general manager and be instrumental in bringing forward ideas to help the centre grow further through a mixture of excellent merchandising, customer service, range reviews and stock control. You will lead a small team to offer exceptional service and keep customers coming back again and again.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for this role will have a proven track record in managing a planteria and delivering sustainable revenue growth. You will have excellent plant knowledge and experience in commercial buying. You will be expected to establish strong relationships with existing suppliers and find new suppliers to provide a broad range of plants throughout the year across different plant categories (perennials, alpines, bedding, herbaceous etc) and increase sales. You will need to be organised, with excellent communication and management skills, with a proven track record in successfully leading a small team..

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need to have experience in the garden retail sector with strong plant knowledge and experience in buying, stock control and merchandising to create the best possible range of plants for the customers.

Salary

~£32-35k DOE + bonus/package
