Rural Surveyor - Estate Management & Consultancy
Location: St Albans
Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Rural Surveyor to join their growing team in St Albans. This is a key opportunity to take on a central role in the development of a well-established rural consultancy and management service, with a strong focus on estate management and the flexibility to work across a wide range of professional rural services.
The St Albans office is a vibrant and expanding part of the business, offering a broad client base and a variety of work across estate management, consultancy, valuation, farming, and environmental services. The successful candidate will work with some of the most prominent landowners in the region and will have the opportunity to contribute to the continued growth of the team and the wider business.
Key Responsibilities
- Acting as principal agent and lead asset manager for a key estate client, working closely with senior colleagues.
- Managing day-to-day operations while progressing long-term strategic objectives.
- Coordinating input from multiple business lines to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Contributing to business development and identifying new opportunities.
- Ensuring compliance with internal procedures and client standards.
- Undertaking secured lending and professional valuations (preferred but not essential).
Leadership & Team Development
- Leading a high-performing team on the principal instruction.
- Supporting and guiding junior colleagues, helping to develop their skills and confidence.
- Playing an active role in team planning, budgeting, and resource management.
Candidate Profile
Essential Skills & Experience:
- MRICS-qualified rural surveyor (preferably Rural pathway) with 3-5 years' post-qualification experience.
- Experience managing a significant portfolio of rural assets, including let farms and residential property.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to delegate, supervise, and support others effectively.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to contribute to the financial performance of the team.
- A proactive and entrepreneurial mindset, with a desire to help grow the business.
Qualifications
- Relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree.
- MRICS qualification is essential, valuer advantageous.
- CAAV membership or qualification is desirable.
