What Will I Be Doing?

As a Sales / Nursery Assistant, you'll be part of a small, friendly, and knowledgeable team in a specialist tree and shrub nursery. This is a varied, hands-on role where you'll divide your time between customer-facing sales work and outdoor nursery tasks, depending on the season.

From October to March, you'll be focused on sales answering phone enquiries, preparing quotes, and processing orders. From April to September, your time will shift more toward nursery work, including watering, pruning, feeding, and general plant care.

You'll get the best of both worlds: supporting customers directly and gaining practical horticultural experience in a supportive, small-team environment.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing excellent customer service in person and over the phone
  • Preparing quotations and processing orders accurately
  • Carrying out seasonal nursery tasks to maintain healthy plant stock
  • Working closely with a small team of 5 as part of a wider 13-person operation

What Do I Need?

You don't need formal qualifications, just a genuine interest in plants and horticulture, and a practical, team-oriented attitude. You'll be comfortable working both indoors and outside, and enjoy a hands-on, active role.

We're ideally looking for someone who:

  • Has some basic plant knowledge (especially trees and shrubs)
  • Enjoys interacting with customers and providing great service
  • Is comfortable using a computer (training provided)
  • Is physically fit and happy working outdoors in all weather
  • Works well as part of a small, close-knit team

Whether you're experienced or looking to train in horticulture, we'd love to hear from you.

What's on Offer?

  • Salary: Competitive
Hours: Full-time, approx. 40 hours per week (includes Saturday working with a weekday off)
  • Holidays: 23 days holiday per year (plus bank holidays), taken outside spring and autumn peak periods
  • Pension: Contributory pension scheme in line with government auto-enrolment
