Packhouse Manager | Fresh Produce | East Scotland

Up to £50,000 + Accommodation

Looking for your next leadership move in fresh produce?
Want to live and work by the beautiful east coast of Scotland?

We're working with a long-established grower-supplier who operates across both fruit and veg, supplying top-tier UK supermarkets with fresh, seasonal produce. They're now looking for an experienced Packhouse Manager to take the reins of the veg operation.

The Role

You'll oversee the day-to-day running of the veg packhouse, managing a diverse team of around 30 packers (plus up to 3 supervisors), ensuring smooth and efficient operations across packing, audits, Health & Safety and compliance. You'll also play a hands-on role in managing seasonal peaks and workforce planning.

This is a role that still requires strong people skills, while there is some automation, the site remains heavily labour-focused. Communication is key here, with many returning seasonal workers from Eastern Europe, Kenya, and Central Asia. If you speak Russian (or any Eastern European language), that's a huge plus.

What You'll Be Doing

* Managing daily packing operations of veg lines (primarily brassicas and asparagus in season)
* Leading, motivating and coordinating a multilingual team
* Overseeing audits, compliance, H&S, and quality procedures
* Coordinating logistics and transport from the site to the supermarkets
* Reporting to Rob (Head of Veg) and liaising with the wider senior team

What You'll Need

* Packhouse leadership experience - ideally in fresh produce
* Strong people management skills with a collaborative, proactive style
* Confident handling audits, logistics and seasonal team planning
* A cool head during peak season and a hands-on approach
* Bonus: Russian or other Eastern European language skills

Package & Perks

* Salary up to £50,000
* Accommodation included - a modern static caravan on site with up to 3 bedrooms

Location

Based on the edge of East Scotland, it's ideal for someone looking for a quieter lifestyle with stunning countryside surroundings. If relocation is a concern, the accommodation makes it a lot easier!
