Job Role

To maintain and continually improve the Quality Assurance System, supporting the mill production and technical teams. Ensuring feed is produced safely to meet customer quality standards and legislative requirements, while managing all administrative duties related to raw material intake and feed deliveries.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Compliance & QA:
    • Enforce QA policies and procedures within the mill environment.
    • Liaise with managers to ensure office & QA policies meet required standards.
  • Analysis & Reporting:
    • Analyse raw materials & finished feeds using NIR (Near Infra Red) technology and communicate results to the mill team and nutritionists.
    • Ensure feed declarations comply with legal & regulatory requirements.
    • Complete internal audits, prepare for external inspections, and attend regular meetings.
  • Communication & Support:
    • Assist nutritionists in communicating correct information to the Mill and Farms.
    • Liaise with the laboratory and communicate results to the wider team.
  • Quality Control:
    • Carry out swabs in the mill environment & vehicles as per the mill Control Plan.
    • Manage corrective actions based on swab results.
    • Maintain knowledge of raw materials and their importance for poultry.
    • Ensure system procedures are reviewed, updated, and documented.
  • Training & Development:
    • Assist in training to fully utilize mill systems including HACCP and Quality Systems.
  • Customer & Farm Relations:
    • Compile and coordinate customer and farm complaints and communicate to the Technical Manager.
    • Understand farms and farming practices to anticipate potential issues.
  • Operational Excellence:
    • Identify and improve cost or performance through operational excellence techniques (5S).
    • Monitor partner mills and suppliers.
  • Administrative Support:
    • Provide Despatch / Weighbridge and administration holiday cover as required.
    • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and instructions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required

Essential

  • Good general education including Maths & English at Grade C or equivalent.
  • Experience in a busy QC / QA environment.
  • Experience with quality systems and food/feed hygiene awareness.
  • Experience in preparing for and participating in external audits.
  • Familiarity with regulatory bodies like DAERA.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Initiative, self-motivation, organization, and influencing skills.
  • Customer-focused approach.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and handle pressure positively.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently.
  • Flexible approach to work.
  • Good persuasion and influencing skills.
  • Good negotiating skills.
  • Full driving license and flexibility to travel to other sites across the group as required.
