General Manager

Eastern England

Horticulture

Are you ready to take the lead in a business that values your input and gives you the autonomy to make real change?

These roles don't come about very often, especially within such a renowned and successful business.

We're working exclusively with a well-established, respected name in horticulture. This is a brand-new, senior leadership position created to strengthen the small, senior management team and support the business's next phase of growth.

If you have a passion for growing and people, and the drive to make a real impact, then keep reading.

Tell me more...

This isn't just another General Manager role. You'll be at the heart of a forward-thinking, family-owned business, helping steer strategy across all key departments - operations, technical, HR, finance, and more.

You'll work closely with the current Managing Director (who is looking to step back from day-to-day operations), providing leadership and direction to a capable and knowledgeable team of managers.

Your voice will be valued from day one - you'll help shape the company's future, drive innovation, and ensure long-term commercial success.

This is a broad role, and as with any position at this level, people leadership is key. You'll lead managers across the business and be the go-to for all questions, whether that's about planning, people, budgeting, sustainability, or personal development.

You'll also oversee the delivery of the company's sustainability goals, both internally and in line with customer expectations.

What do I need?

You're already in a senior leadership role in a fast-paced business and understand the demands of a commercial, growing environment.

That experience may come from horticulture, fresh produce, or FMCG - either way, we want to hear from you.

You'll be confident, inquisitive by nature, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about both growing and people.

Communication is key - you'll be working with your team, internal stakeholders, and external partners daily. You'll already know how to build strong internal relationships and challenge senior thinking constructively.

You will also be able to manage upwards. You'll be confident holding your own with Directors and owners - they want your opinion and insights on how to improve and grow the business. You'll know how to build collaborative and strong relationships with your teams who you will support through every aspect of their functional area success.

You'll bring commercial awareness and a solutions-driven mindset, always thinking of new ways to innovate and enhance performance.

Who For?

This is a respected, family-run company with over 75 years of successful trading. They're known across the UK for their quality and commitment to sustainable growing.

They have a global presence, meaning you and the business have support across the world. Whilst they're a global business, the UK operates independently, giving that 'smaller business feel' where you're a person, not a number.

With an experienced Managing Director stepping back, they're investing in a future-focused leadership structure - and you could be a key part of that. So, this could not only be your next role, but the one after that too.
